How many ideas do you go through before you get to the "ONE"?
I started working today on a new work for a conference workshop class. Today I tried four beginnings before I found the "one". As an artist that is pretty good! Some days are more inspired than others. Some days ideas come overflowing faster than I can capture them and others it's like pulling teeth to get just one idea that is worthy of keeping in a dance.
Now at a whole different level a Christian choreographer is looking to Him to inspire and create. God honors our committment to Him and to our training in Him by pouring out more ideas and inspiration. I firmly believe that if we are reading His Word, praying, and looking for Him - He will give liberally to the projects He has put on our hearts.
Conversly, if we are working in our own flesh, training only our skill, and creating our own art: we limit the potential of the piece. And when we do that, the glory we can bring to God is diminished.
If you are stuck or finding a block in inspiration stop and pray.
Ask God, "what comes next?"
Praise Him for what He's already done.
Its not a magic formula, but I'd much rather draw nearer to Him in the process of choreography than get lost in myself.
